The following is an Intellogist Help Topic
Criteria for Intellogist Articles
With so many patent and intellectual property (including non-patent) search systems, files, and analytical tools out there, we here at Intellogist need some way to prioritize our coverage by aiming towards the best and most relevant systems. We'd love to cover every system in depth, but there just isn’t enough time in the day with the extremely fast pace of growth in these areas.
To determine which systems we choose to review, we go by a few basic guidelines, our editorial judgment, and the availability of the product in a reviewable state.
If the product is not available for us to review, either by a currently held subscription, trial period, or other short term pricing method, we may not be able to review such a product in a timely fashion. Intellogist is always working hard with vendors to get hands on time with the best and most relevant systems, however, and just because there currently isn't an article up on a system of interest doesn't mean that there isn't one planned. If you represent a vendor with a product you'd like us to review, please Contact Us and fill in the appropriate and specific fields.
The following are some of the criteria important to us when determining whether or not to do editorial coverage on a system/file/tool:
- Patent and non-patent search systems – A software platform, free or paid, which has been designed primarily for users to access patent or non-patent prior art information. Guidelines for editorial inclusion comprise of but are not limited to:
- Multinational patent authority coverage
- Unique collections of patent authority coverage
- Breadth of non-patent sources
- Value added content or coverage
- Advanced search capabilities
- Data and document management, import, and export
- Unusual or unique features that are a step beyond the competition
- Patent and non-patent files – a specific collection or groups of collections of either patent or non-patent information specific records, including but not limited to collections that introduce value added elements or subject specific coverage. Guidelines for editorial inclusion comprise of but are not limited to:
- Multinational patent authority coverage
- Unique collections of patent authority coverage
- Breadth of non-patent sources
- Value added content or coverage
- Industry or academic support and renown
- Patent analytical tools – software platforms which may or may not be associated with a database that allow for visualization, graphical representation, text analysis, keyword clustering, statistical analysis, or any other kind of high altitude patent related data analysis or grouping. Note that some patent or non-patent search systems will include this functionality. Guidelines for editorial inclusion comprise of but are not limited to:
- Value added content or coverage
- Industry or academic support and renown
- Unusual or unique features that are a step beyond the competition
- Unique user interface
- Ability to handle large amounts of data
Additionally, Intellogist offers many supplemental articles on related terms, topics, and subjects. These are chosen on an as-needed basis and we certainly welcome you to create pages for terms or subjects that you think are relevant. See our help section on creating articles for more information
