The following is an Intellogist Help Topic

Introduction

We encourage users to get involved in the Intellogist community by creating and editing content on the site. You must be a registered user with a confirmed e-mail to make changes to any content. Editing pre-existing pages in Intellogist can be done on Community Reports pages, Glossary pages, or Best Practices pages. For more information about what qualifies as a Community Report and how to access them, see the Community Reports help topic. For more information about what qualifies as a Glossary item and how to access them, see the Glossary help topic. For more information about what qualifies as a Best Practices article and how to access them, see the Best Practices help topic. When editing or creating an articles, we ask that you keep in mind the standards and practices mentioned on these pages as well.

If you want to contribute to Intellogist, but there is no relevant report or page to edit, you can create a page. If a page already exists and you want to modify the text on that page, see the Editing help page.

How to Create a Page

To create a page, users must first be logged in. There are a few ways to create a page, but it is recommended that users utilize the following method:[1]

You can use the wiki's URL for creating a new page. The URL to an article of the wiki is usually something like this:
  • http://www.intellogist.com/wiki/Article name
If you replace Article name with the name of the page you wish to create, you will be taken to a blank :page which indicates that no article of that name exists yet. Clicking the "Edit this page" page tab at the top of the page will take you to the edit page for that article, where you can create the new :page by typing your text, and clicking submit.

Intellogist uses Mediawiki software, a full featured and popular wiki software. Mediawiki is used by Wikipedia, so if you know how to edit on Wikipedia, the same standards and syntax apply here at Intellogist.

If you are unfamiliar with how to use Mediawiki to create content, please see the Mediawiki help pages on editing for reference. Wikipedia's "how to edit a page" help documentation may also be useful to show syntax examples.

Please note that there are exceptions and clarifications to the use of Mediawiki software here at Intellogist, including but not limited to:

  • prohibiting uploading of media by non-confirmed users (images, video, sounds, etc.)
  • prohibiting use of profanity or objectionable content
  • vandalism of any kind

Pages will be policed by the Intellogist team and other users of the site. Discussion of edits is encouraged on the Discussion Forum.
