Introduction

Web of Knowledge is a subscription-based online research platform produced by Thomson Reuters, and it provides access to journal articles, patents, websites, conference proceedings, Open Access material, and a variety of analysis tools.[1] A fact sheet on Web of Knowledge from the Thomson Reuters website describes the content of the platform:[2]

  • 23,000 journals (including over 11,000 unique titles in Web of Science)
  • 23,000,000 patents
  • 110,000 proceedings
  • Over 40 million source items and 700 million cited reference
