There are four ways to earn entries into the sweepstakes. Edits that are void of new content will not be eligible. We’re not looking for a thousand word extravaganza (though that would be nice), we just want to see our great community at work. See the following entries for examples of eligible contributions:

Anyone contributing to the search-related discussions on our forum will be entered to win! If you’re at a loss, may we suggest posting about your favorite search system and a few reasons why you like it? We’re always interested in your perspective! When posting, please note that we have specific forums devoted to all systems already reviewed by Intellogist – please add your comments on those systems to the existing forum space! |

Example from the ISI Web of Science entry: “The formula to derive the impact factor is proprietary to Thomson Reuters, and some questions have been raised in the scientific community about possible ways the number could be unduly influenced. Thomson Reuters provides a wealth of information about the Impact factor, and the controversy surrounding it, at the “Citation Impact Forum” hosted on their website.“ |
|
Example from the Electrical Engineering article: “Keyword searching combined with citation-based relevancy ranking such as that in Google Patent Search can be valuable to the Electrical Engineering searcher when the goal of the search is to find a handful of highly relevant prior art, rather than an exhaustive list of every piece of prior art.” |
|
Example from the X-Patents entry: The term "X-patents" refers to the collection of US patents issued from 1790 to 1836. The original copies of these documents were destroyed in a December 1836 fire, leaving the US government without any records of these patents. The collection has subsequently been partially re-constructed via inventors' copies. These document numbers now currently begin with the letter "X" to designate them as part of this historic collection. |
