MPI-INPADOC Plus is a retired product, offered by MicroPatent as part of its PatentWeb database collection. This file is essentially compiled from INPADOC bibliographic, family, and legal status data, which is available for license through the European Patent Office and is hosted on many commercial search platforms, as well as offered for free via Espacenet. MicroPatent differentiated their product principally by the addition of national legal status data feeds to the file. Legal status information which came from one of these national data feeds is not searchable and does not appear in the searchable status data fields, but it appears in the “additional information” field of an MPI-INPADOC bibliographic record. National legal status changes sometimes were reflected in the database before the INPADOC data could catch up, since the INPADOC legal status file is only updated weekly. This gave an advantage to the MPI-INPADOC product regarding timely notification of changes in the legal status.
