Nature is a weekly international scientific journal published by Nature Publishing Group (NPG) that was founded in 1869.[1] NPG is a part of Macmillan Publishers Ltd.[1] NPG produces a wide variety of scientific publications, events, regional websites, gateways and databases, blogs, podcasts, and webcasts, which cover topics like:

  • Chemistry
  • Clinical Practice and Research
  • Earth and Environment
  • Life Sciences
  • Physics

  • Limited free articles and content
  • Saved searches
  • Free subscription newsletters about NPG products
  • Creation of a profile on the Nature Network

Many products accessible through are subscription-based, including the Nature journal, so only table of contents, article previews, and selected full articles are available for non-subscribed users to view. Users can choose to pay for instant access to individual articles, or they can buy a subscription for a year's worth of 51 weekly issues, accessible in print and online.[3]

Search Options

Users can search the website through a basic keyword search form, accessible in the top right corner of each page, or users can select the advanced search form. In the advanced search form, users can choose to search for all words, any words, or the exact phrase. Users can also select within which journals (available on to search by selecting/deselecting checkboxes beside the journal titles. Users can also search by author, title, volume, issue, start page, publication date range, and DOI.

After conducting a search, users can filter results by journal title, article type, and publication date. Results can sorted by date, relevance, title, journal, or article type, and open-access articles are labeled in the search results. The search results display the title, a short excerpt (with bolded search terms), and citation information. Full views of the articles vary according to access rights, but previews of articles include the abstract and thumbnail images.
