XP Documents

Esp@cenet offers some non-patent data coverage in the form of bibliographic data XP documents. When a European Patent Examiner comes across a useful non-patent document, he or she may choose to classify it using the ECLA system and enter it into the EPO’s data files so that it can be easily found by other examiners. These documents are assigned a retrieval number starting with the letters “XP.” Although they cannot be found in esp@cenet by an author/inventor search, they may be retrieved by a keyword or classification search. However, keyword searches for these documents are restricted by the fact that abstracts are not usually included in the records. Additionally, it is not possible to limit a search to XP documents only.
