IPC code searching: Yes, however, IPC codes in the system are not current – they are those published on the document at time of issue, and do not represent reclassification efforts.
US Classification searching: Yes, however, although it is billed as “current US class data,” the US class data contained in the system is the data published on the document itself, at time of issue. Subsequent revisions to a patent's classification are not indexed.
ECLA code searching: No
Japanese F-terms or File Indexing: No
Date-limited searching: Yes, searches can be limited by filing or issue date, but not by priority date.
Section-specific Text Searching (e.g. a search in “claims only”?): No, keyword searches must be performed within the entire patent text – the one exception is that searches can be restricted to patent titles.

Command line interface: Yes, simple commands are enabled and may be used from the general search bar. These commands have the same functions as are already enabled via the Advanced Search form (e.g. assignee or inventor search).
Web-Browser Search Form: Yes, both a simple search bar, and Advanced Search form, are available from the website.
Combining (stacking) Search Queries: No, searches are not saved into a history, and thus cannot be stacked.
Viewing Results
Uses a relevancy ranking when listing search results: Yes, Google's proprietary relevancy ranking algorithm is used to rank the patents.
Advanced Keyword Highlighting (the ability to define terms to be highlighted when viewing full text results ): Yes, the system has a “search within this patent” bar that appears on the results page for each hit. Keyword terms can be entered here and, once searched, will appear highlighted yellow in the patent image.
Keyword In Context Display (generates excerpts containing searched-for terms for quick review): Yes, hits in a results set will appear with the patent title, number and issue date, and a “snippet” of the text containing relevant keyword(s), will be shown below it.
