Truncation or Wildcard Operators

The only truncation operator allowed is an asterisk (*) used as right truncation only. Asterisks are not allowed to be used inside of double quotes. Truncation wildcards, sometimes used in other systems, such as ? or %, are NOT allowed.

Example string: carb*

editors note iconEditor's Note:

Knovel does not recommend using truncation with only one or two characters as this results in too many hits.

Knovel also includes a Search Tips tab alongside the Search and Browse tabs. These tips focus mainly on the different allowed operators and provide a quick and easy way to review searching techniques.
