It should be noted that PatAnalyst only has coverage of European (EP) patent applications and does not have coverage of the EP-B granted patent documents. To find the first publication of a missing granted publication, users can use the /pnfp field operator.
As a reminder, many EP granted patents originate as PCT applications due to the Euro-PCT Transfer Problem. The European Patent Organization (EPO) does not republish the Patent Cooperation Treaty (WO/PCT) applications as EP applications, causing some EP granted patents to have no corresponding full text EP application. As a result, the full text of many pre-1990 EP applications will be present as their corresponding PCT documents, and can be successfully found in PatAnalyst.
Editor's Note:The lack of EP granted patents is a big absence in coverage compared to PatAnalyst’s competitors, many of which have full text collections for these granted documents.
