Weighting and Ranking Features
From within the Preferences screen, users can select to have results sorted by "Confidence". The confidence ranking is a type of relevancy ranking that appears to be based on hit term count.
Also, when performing a Quicksearch, "Confidence" may also be chosen as the sort method. The other two options are "Earliest Patents" or "Latest Patents", sorting the results chronologically by publication date.
The confidence ranking feature seems to be an experimental feature that users should approach with caution. In other words, "your mileage may vary."
