The European Patent Office Collection
SureChem has full text data coverage for European Patent Office (EP) granted patents dating back to December 30, 1986 and patent applications dating back to January 29, 1986. Bibliographic information is present for all EP granted patents and patent applications back to the earliest dates of coverage in 1978. Abstracts are present in English and the original language in many cases.
Editor's Note:The coverage of EP documents is slightly below average for both free and paid services, since many search systems have full access to the EP databases. The presence of both English and original language titles and abstracts are a benefit to users who wish to search in more than one language. Users should be aware that many EP granted patents originate as PCT applications due to the Euro-PCT Transfer Problem. The EPO does not republish the PCT applications as EP applications, causing some EP granted patents to have no corresponding EP application.
