Managing Search Histories
Surf IP allows up to 10 search strings to be saved by clicking on the Save/Schedule This Search link, shown in the figure below. Saving searches requires a login ID available for free by registering with the site.
The link opens a popup Saved Search window where the search type, search terms, and data sources searched are saved. From this window, the user can start, copy, or edit the search, or create a schedule to run the search (see the Alerts section). The functions work as follows:
- Starting a search will run the search immediately.
- Copying a search will copy the query into the search form.
- Editing a search will also copy the query into the search form; if the user clicks on the “Save/Schedule This Search” link after editing a search, the saved query string will be updated and saved in the Saved Searches popup.
- Creating a schedule allows the users to run alerts.
Editor's Note:Search results from each search string are NOT saved in the Saved Search window, which is merely a conduit to re-run search strings. The user should export the results if he/she will need the results from a particular day of searching.
