Family Search Features
WIPS family data consists of extended INPADOC data, along with data from continuing, continuation-in-part, and divisional applications. The family data is initially obscured, but is accessed by clicking on the "Show WIPS Family" link when viewing an individual record. Records are displayed in a table showing the country code, patent number, kind code, publication date, and title. The system uses bolded black text to show the current document being viewed. WIPS also highlights which documents are from INPADOC data and which are basic patents.
Editor's Note:By taking a common family data system such as INPADOC and adding additional information, WIPS is trying to distinguish itself from other search engines.
