SpringerReference.com is subscription based online publishing platform and reference repository developed by major scientific publisher Springer. The site launched with access to "146 major reference works, corresponding to about 185,000 articles and 220,000 pages."
The main draw and purpose of SpringerReference.com is to provide "Live eReference" updates to the reference works housed on the service. Live eReferences allow authors to update published reference works with new research. These updates will be peer reviewed in a similar fashion to the original material. The Springer References are "multivolume publications, managed by expert scientific boards of editors."
Springer is also the provider of well known search system SpringerLink.
