WPAM is a database produced by API EnCompass that contains the content of Derwent World Patents Index (DWPI) and uses APIPAT indexing. The WPAM database is available through Questel platforms like Orbit.com (a portal replacing QPAT) and Qweb. The WPAM records consist of "more than nine million patents, including coverage of petroleum processes, fuels, lubricants, petrochemicals, pipelines, tankers, storage, pollution control, synthetic gas, C1 chemistry and other technologies" that cover a period from 1963 to present. According to the WPAM datasheet, "WPAM benefits from the API EnCompass’s renowned indexing capabilities as well as the unique Derwent classification and coding system."
The database consists of more than 16 million documents and 9 million images (as of 2008) and is updated weekly.
